We had a meeting with Councilor and Mayoral candidate Lukes today to discuss our petition.  We all agreed to file the petition after the 1st of the year when the new committees are formed.

Meetinig next Friday Sept 23rd 10AM

September 14, 2011

To:          Stark Road residents between Fernside and Juniper
Re:         Petition

It is my intention to file a petition to remove the section of Stark Road between Fernside and Juniper (16-51) not to be made public but to remain private.  To that end, I have asked Konnie Lukes to submit it for me.  She has agreed but would like to hear from as many people in this section to hear their feelings on the matter.

Next Friday September 23, 2011, Konnie will be at my mother’s house at 10AM for about 15 minutes.  If you have a chance, please stop by and talk to her. If you can not attend, please send Konnie an e-mail .

Also I have received another check so right now I have a balance of $200 to invest in the street before the winter starts.

Petition

By the end of the month I will be sitting with my lawyer to file a petition to keep 16-51 Stark Road to remain private.

1.5 inches of top coat

I am hearing on average 1.50 per square foot. .  If the road is 852.50 feet long by 22 feet wide that equates to 18,755 square feet

Times that by 1.50 per square foot and we are in the $27,000 range.  Even if we over pay at $2 per square foot, we are under $40,000?

We need to petition this section of Stark Rd to remain private even with the premise we will put an inch and half top coat?    How can this possibly be rejected?

This will save all of us a ton of money and keep a betterment charge hanging over us...

Three sections

July 21, 2011

Re:         Conversion from private to public

I have spent more time looking at Stark Road then I would care to think about.  I have broker Stark Road broken into three parts:
1.       Mower to Fernside
2.       Fernside to Juniper
3.       Juniper to the end
The beginning and end of Stark are too far gone, not to mention I have gotten no response from anyone from either of these sections.   On the other hand, the middle (16-50) can be saved and does not have to be converted.  In my humble opinion, of course.
To date we have invested the following monies into Stark Road
·         Florence Randell   600   (27)
·         Bill Randell  100
·         Estus 200 (24)
·         Davus 200 (30)
·         Failoa  200 (35)
·         Sawyer 200 (40)
·         Murphy 200 (46)
That is a grand total $1,700 and I have money left over.  Exact amount not sure until I settle up this week-end.    What is next?
1.       From now on I am only mailing out letters to the 18 people between 16 – 50 Stark Road.
2.        If anyone, who has not sent me money, wants to send me $200, please do.  We will invest right back into Stark between Fernside to Juniper this year.
3.       Next spring, I will ask everyone between 16-50 Stark Road for $50 to patch any potholes that might come up.
4.       Also I am going to get estimates from paving companies to put a top coat (one inch) on the 852.20 feet between Fernside and Juniper
5.       Lastly petition the City of Worcester to leave 16-50 Stark Road private and avoid the betterment charges.
I have put together a spreadsheet of the 18 home-owners who have frontage on this section of Stark Road.      If the City of Worcester were in fact to charge each of $150 per foot, that would come out to an additional 236,700 in taxes.

There are some people who have told me that if we convert to public street, it will improve the value of our houses.  I completely disagree!    Keep an eye on the Treasurer’s site, these betterment charges will start appearing soon for any potential buyer to see.  Ask yourself this, if someone was looking at your house and they knew that there was going to be a special assessment/betterment of $10,000 in the future, you don’t think they will want to reduce this off the price?
A better private way, however, will improve the value of our houses, but can be done a hell of a lot cheaper then $236,700.  Any questions, call my cell (508-414-8305) or e-mail me (Bill@AdvanatgeBenefits.com).
Sincerely,
Bill Randell

Monies

I have five $200 checks in my possesion:

  1. Murphy  46 Stark
  2. Sawyer   40 Stark
  3. Faiola   35 Stark
  4. Davis   30 Stark
  5. Estus  24 Stark
I will not deposit any of these checks into my account until $1,000 is invested into the street and I need to pay the contractors.  Going to concentrate where I left off and head towards Fernside.  I will try to get the work done next week.
